Werewords

Deduction and Guessing Games

Werewords is a social deduction party game designed by Ted Alspach and published by Bezier Games in 2017, blending the hidden-role structure of Werewolf with a guessing-game format similar to twenty questions. At the start of each round a secret word is revealed to everyone except one player named the Mayor, who must identify it by asking yes-or-no questions of the other players within a time limit. Among the remaining players, one or more are secretly assigned as werewolves who already know the word and try to mislead the Mayor without being caught, while the villager majority tries to help the Mayor guess correctly. The game supports four to ten players and is played in short, fast-paced rounds, with victory conditions differing for the Mayor, the villagers and the werewolves depending on whether the word is guessed and whether the werewolves are identified.
