Warzone (game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Warzone is a tabletop miniature wargame set in the Mutant Chronicles science fiction universe, a setting that originated in an earlier role-playing game of the same name. Designed by Bill King and first published by the Swedish company Target Games in 1996 through its subsidiary Epic Games, Warzone puts two or more players in command of small squads of miniature soldiers representing rival mega-corporations and factions fighting for control of the solar system, resolving combat and movement at a skirmish level using painted metal or plastic figures on a tabletop battlefield. Although the earliest editions focused on small squad actions, later rulebooks and supplements introduced vehicles and larger models, expanding the game's scale over time. Rights to the game changed hands several times after its initial release, passing from Target Games to Paradox Entertainment in 1999 and later to Res Nova, with new editions and revivals of the Mutant Chronicles brand appearing intermittently in the following decades, reflecting the setting's continued cult following among miniature wargamers.
