Warmachine is a tabletop steampunk miniatures wargame in which players command armies from the fictional Iron Kingdoms setting, each led by a spellcasting warcaster who directs steam-powered war machines called warjacks alongside squads of infantry troops. Combat and other actions are resolved primarily through dice rolling, and battles are fought on a tabletop battlefield using detailed metal, plastic and resin miniatures that players collect, assemble and paint before play. First released in 2003 by Privateer Press, Warmachine quickly won recognition within the hobby wargaming community, receiving Origins Awards for Best Fantasy Miniatures Rules and Best Fantasy Miniatures Series in its debut year and the overall Game of the Year at the Origins Awards in 2005. In 2024, ownership of Warmachine and the broader Iron Kingdoms brand transferred to Steamforged Games, which continues to publish and support the game today.
