Warhammer Ancient Battles, commonly abbreviated WAB and also called Warhammer Historical, is a tabletop miniatures wargame ruleset for refighting historical battles, first published in 1998 by Games Workshop's Warhammer Historical Wargames imprint. It was developed from the fifth edition of the fantasy-focused Warhammer Fantasy Battle system by designers Jervis Johnson and Rick Priestley together with the Perry brothers, adapting that framework's army-building and combat mechanics to depict real historical armies and conflicts rather than fantastical ones. A second edition followed in April 2010, refining the original ruleset for its community of historical wargamers. Games Workshop's Warhammer Historical Wargames imprint, which produced the title, closed on 24 May 2012, ending official support for the line even as it retained a following among historical miniature gaming enthusiasts.
