War of the Sky Cities

War of the Sky Cities is a two player board wargame published in 1979 by Fantasy Games Unlimited. It is set in a post apocalyptic future in which human survivors and mutant factions no longer fight over ordinary territory but instead contest control from and between huge flying cities, using aircraft based warfare as the game's central mechanic. Players maneuver these airborne strongholds and their supporting forces against one another in tactical combat, with the game's science fiction premise setting it apart from the historical ground battles that made up much of Fantasy Games Unlimited's catalogue in the same period. Its focus on a single, clearly defined conflict between two sides keeps the design compact compared with the multi scenario wargames the publisher released alongside it.
