Villainous (board game)

Board Game

Villainous is an asymmetric strategy board game in which each player takes on the role of a different Disney villain, each pursuing that character's own unique path to victory rather than a shared win condition. Prospero Hall designed the game, and Wonder Forge and Ravensburger published its original release, titled Villainous: The Worst Takes It All, debuting at Gen Con in August 2018 with a roster of classic villains including Maleficent, Ursula and Jafar. The game supports two to six players in sessions that typically run 45 to 120 minutes, with a recommended minimum age of 10, and each villain has their own deck, board region and special abilities built around achieving that character's personal objective, such as Maleficent casting a curse over the kingdom or Ursula collecting enough power to rule the sea. Strong sales drove a string of expansions adding further villains and realms, along with licensed spin-off lines including Marvel Villainous and Star Wars Villainous, and by 2022 the Disney and Marvel versions together had sold nearly three million units.
