Veto (card game)

Veto, whose full Polish title translates as Noble Card Game Veto, is a collectible card game set during the free election period of the 17th century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was designed by the Krakowska Grupa Kreacyjna, a team including Kuba Janicki, Krzysztof Schechtel, Tomasz Majkowski, Marcin Tomczyk and Michal Rokita, blending historical events, literature and legend into an alternate history setting known as the Czarty i Upiory season. Two players each command a faction competing during a royal election, aiming either to install their own candidate on the throne or to defeat the rival faction outright. It stands as one of the earliest Polish collectible card games. The game appeared in two distinct editions: a first edition released between 2004 and 2005 by its own design team, and a second edition published in stages from 2007 through 2017 by a sequence of publishers including Imperium Publishing, Kuznia Gier, Fabryka Gier Historycznych and finally Veto Publishing.
