Uckers is a board game for two to four players traditionally played in the Royal Navy, a cross and circle game closely related to Pachisi and Ludo in which each player races four pieces around a shared track and into a home area before their opponents. It is documented in print from at least 1937, though servicemen describe it as older, and it has since spread beyond the Royal Navy to other British armed services and to the naval and air forces of Commonwealth countries, including the Royal Marines, the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal New Zealand Navy, the Royal Australian Navy and Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Navy, and the Royal Air Force. Play uses a board, colored counters, and dice, and the game's most celebrated outcome is completing the circuit while an opponent's pieces remain entirely in their starting base, a result known in Royal Navy slang as an eight-piece dicking.
