Tunisia (board game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Tunisia, subtitled The Tunisian Theater of Operations, November 1942 to May 1943, is a two-player board wargame designed and illustrated by Dean Essig and published by The Gamers in 1995. It is the third game in The Gamers' Operational Combat Series and simulates the World War II campaign in North Africa, using two hex-grid maps measuring 22 by 34 inches at a scale of eight kilometers per hex, 780 die-cut counters, forty pages of series-wide rules and twenty-four pages of game-specific rules. Unlike most wargames on the market at the time, Tunisia has no zone-of-control rule. Players begin with few counters and receive major reinforcements as the campaign advances toward mid-1943. The game won the Charles S. Roberts Award for Best World War II Board Game of 1995 and was a finalist for Best Wargaming Graphics of 1995. Multi-Man Publishing revised and republished it as Tunisia II in 2016.
