Tsuro

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Tsuro is a tile-laying board game designed by Tom McMurchie and first published in the United States in 2004, in which players take turns placing square tiles printed with curved path segments to extend a network of lines across a shared grid, moving a personal marker stone along whichever path it lands on as tiles are added. A player is eliminated once their marker's path runs off the edge of the board or collides with another player's marker, so a large part of the game's strategy lies in choosing tiles that steer an opponent's path toward the edge while keeping one's own path safely contained within the grid. The last marker remaining on the board wins, and because every tile placement affects the paths of every marker touching that tile's edges, Tsuro is often described as a lighter, faster-playing entry point into the modern hobby tile-laying genre, playable by both children and adults in a single sitting.
