Tourne case

Tourne case is a historical French tables game belonging to the same family of games as backgammon, played by two people and traditionally recommended for children age five and older. The game traces to the French Renaissance, with an early reference appearing in Rabelais's Gargantua in 1532, and its formal rules were later set down in French gaming manuals published across the late seventeenth through the nineteenth centuries. A typical game lasts around fifteen minutes and combines dice-driven chance with counting and positional strategy in the manner of other tables games in the backgammon family, making it part of the long European tradition of race games played on a divided board with dice.
