Tomb Raider: Legend

Video Game

Tomb Raider: Legend is an action adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive, released in 2006 across a wide range of platforms including PlayStation 2, Windows, the original Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, GameCube and later PlayStation 3. It is the seventh main entry in the long running Tomb Raider series and was described on release as a reimagining of the franchise, marking Crystal Dynamics' first major effort to revive the series after taking over development duties from its original creator. The game follows archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft as she investigates the truth behind her mother's disappearance years earlier, weaving that personal mystery through a globe spanning set of levels built around acrobatic platforming, puzzle solving and combat. Tomb Raider: Legend was credited at the time with restoring critical and commercial confidence in the Tomb Raider franchise after a run of less well received earlier entries, and its handling of Lara Croft's movement and combat mechanics set the template that later entries in the series would continue to build on.
