Titan Strike!

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Titan Strike!, subtitled Battle for the Moon of Saturn, is a two-player science fiction board wargame designed by Phil Kosnett and published by Simulations Publications, Inc. (SPI) in 1979. It is set on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, where the game imagines a future conflict between the European Economic Community and the Hegemony of Eastern Asia over control of valuable solar fissionable materials found there. Artwork for the game came from Rick Bryant, Redmond A. Simonsen and Charles Vess, giving it a distinct visual identity within SPI's catalogue of largely historical titles. Unlike most of the company's wargames, which reconstructed real battles from documented military history, Titan Strike! projected contemporary Cold War-era power blocs forward into a speculative off-world setting, using the same hex-and-counter tactical framework SPI applied to its historical designs but pointed at an imagined future resource conflict rather than a past campaign.
