Tin Can Alley (game)

Tin Can Alley is an inexpensive electronic shooting toy for children, built around a plastic pistol or rifle fitted with infrared technology. Players aim the toy gun at marks positioned below small tin cans mounted on a plastic wall; a successful hit sends an infrared beam to the target and the can pops off the wall. The electronic toy is a modern take on an older tradition, a UK carnival game in which players throw bean bags at stacked tin cans to knock them down. Both the carnival game and the electronic toy take their name from Tin Pan Alley, the historical Manhattan district associated with songwriters and music publishers, rather than from any toy manufacturer or designer.
