The Witcher Adventure Game

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

The Witcher Adventure Game is a Polish board game set in the world of The Witcher, released in 2014 by CD Projekt RED in cooperation with Fantasy Flight Games and designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek. Two to four players each take one of four asymmetric heroes from the setting: Geralt, Triss Merigold, Dandelion or Yarpen Zigrin. The heroes compete to collect the most victory points by completing multi-stage quests and defeating monsters on a map of the game world, taking two actions per turn such as travelling, investigating, resting or using a hero ability. Combat and tests are resolved with custom six-sided dice and cards, and each hero has a distinct route to points, from monster hunting to narrative scoring. A digital adaptation for Windows, Android and iOS appeared the same year. Reviewers praised its atmosphere and fidelity to the books and games, and criticised limited player interaction, randomness and repetitive play.
