The Resistance is a social deduction party card game designed by Don Eskridge and first published in 2010, in which five to ten players are secretly divided into loyal members of the Resistance and hidden spies working for a corrupt government. Over a series of missions, players nominate and vote on teams to carry out each mission, and any spy included on a mission team may secretly sabotage it, while all players must use discussion, accusation and bluffing to work out who can be trusted; the Resistance wins by completing three missions successfully, while the spies win by causing three to fail or stalling team selection past a vote limit. A typical session runs fifteen to thirty minutes, and the game's popularity led to a King Arthur-themed variant called The Resistance: Avalon, released in 2012 with additional character roles that add further layers of hidden information.
