Terror in Meeple City

Dexterity and Physical Skill Games

Terror in Meeple City is a physical dexterity board game created by designers Ludovic Maublanc and Antoine Bauza and published by the French company Repos Production. It first appeared in 2013 under the title Rampage before being renamed Terror in Meeple City in 2014, a change made for licensing and market reasons while the underlying game stayed the same. Each player controls a giant plastic monster that prowls a miniature cardboard city built from buildings held up by small wooden meeple figures, and turns are resolved through physical actions rather than dice rolls or card play: players flick their monster piece into buildings to knock them down, blow across the board to represent a monster's breath attack, or bite plastic components to grab up meeples and rival monsters. Points are scored for demolishing buildings, devouring citizens and battling other monsters across the play area. The game's tongue in cheek style, and its debt to the classic Rampage arcade video game though it is not an officially licensed adaptation of that title, helped it gain attention on tabletop broadcasts including a demonstration on Wil Wheaton's TableTop program during International TableTop Day in 2014.
