Terrible Swift Sword: Battle of Gettysburg Game, commonly abbreviated TSS, is a grand tactical, regimental-level board wargame designed by Richard Berg and published by Simulations Publications, Inc. in 1976, simulating the three-day Battle of Gettysburg fought during the American Civil War. A second edition was issued by TSR in 1986 after SPI's assets passed to that company. Its title is drawn from the third line of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, which describes the terrible swift sword of the Lord's fateful lightning, an allusion fitting a Civil War subject. With more than a thousand individual counters representing regiments, batteries and commanders across the full three days of fighting, the game is considered a monster wargame, and a full play-through commonly takes participants far longer to complete than the historical battle itself took to fight.
