Switch 16

Children's board game

Switch 16 is a children's card shedding game played with dice, designed by Anthony Vadasz and published by Tomy in 2001 for two to four players aged seven and up. It has since appeared from other publishers under variant titles such as Switch and Roll Over 16. Each player holds a hand of cards numbered from one to sixteen and works to discard them all in ascending order. On a turn a player rolls a set of dice that must match the value of the top card in their discard sequence before that card can be played; a special die can also trigger extra effects, such as swapping stacks of cards with an opponent. A player who discards successfully may choose to roll again for a chance at a further discard, but a failed follow up roll forces them to take back any cards discarded that turn. As the game proceeds and higher numbered cards come into play, additional dice become available to roll, changing the odds of matching the needed value. The first player to shed every card from their hand wins the game.
