Stone Age is a designer board game created by Michael Tummelhofer and published by Hans im Glück in 2008. It is a development game with a prehistoric theme, in which each player takes control of a tribe, gathers resources, builds up a village and tries to end with the most powerful chief. Players collect wood, break stone and wash gold from the river, trade, expand their village and move up levels of civilization, while competing with one another for food. The box holds a gameboard, individual player boards, wooden resources, wooden people and markers, food, building and tool tiles, civilization cards, seven dice and a leather dice cup. With luck and planning the players race through the Stone Age. In 2008 the game was a Spiel des Jahres nominee and took second place at the Deutscher Spiele Preis, which marked it as one of that year's most admired family strategy games.
