Stock Ticker

Stock Ticker is a stock market simulation board game first published in 1937 by the Toronto firm Copp-Clark Publishing, making it one of the earliest commercially produced games built around buying and selling securities. Play revolves around six tracked commodities, gold, silver, bonds, oil, industrials, and grain, each of which opens play priced at one dollar per share. Every player starts with five thousand dollars in play money and buys shares in blocks of five hundred, one thousand, two thousand, or five thousand units. On each turn three dice are rolled together: one selects which of the six commodities moves, a second sets the direction of the move, either up, down, or a dividend payout, and the third sets the size of the move, five, ten, or twenty cents. Shares priced at a dollar or more pay dividends to their holders, a commodity that reaches two dollars splits, doubling share counts and halving price, and a commodity that falls to zero wipes out any money invested in it. After an agreed number of rolls the game ends with a final trading round at the prices then on the board.
