Starleader: Assault! is a science fiction combat microgame published by Metagaming Concepts in 1982, designed by Howard Thompson. It was created to introduce the firearms-combat rules for a planned science fiction role-playing game, tentatively called Starleader, that Metagaming never released before the company went out of business, leaving this combat module as the surviving piece of that larger project. The game presents skirmish-level scenarios built around its infantry combat system, giving players a self-contained introduction to the ruleset that would otherwise have anchored the unpublished roleplaying line, and it remains one of the small-box microgames Metagaming issued during the early 1980s alongside better-known titles such as Ogre and Melee.
