Starguard!

Modern Conquest and War Games

Starguard! is a miniatures wargame of tactical ground combat in the future, created by Michael Kurtick and Jon McEwan and published by McEwan Miniatures in 1974. Players field forces of various alien races, each with its own weapons and tables of organization and equipment, using infantrymen, treaded vehicles and anti-gravity vehicles on a model terrain table. On a turn a player moves and fires in a chosen order, rolling a die to hit and then a penetration roll that is checked against firing charts. Weapons differ in range, blast radius, damage and special effects such as smoke. The winner is the player who destroys all of the opposing force. Strategic companions followed in Star War 2250 in 1975 and the Orilla supplement in 1977, and The Space Gamer discussed it in 1976.
