StarCraft: The Board Game

Board game

StarCraft: The Board Game is a science-fiction area-control strategy board game published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2007, based on Blizzard Entertainment's StarCraft video game franchise. It supports two to six players who each command forces from one of the setting's three factions, the human Terrans, the insectoid Zerg, or the technologically advanced Protoss, competing to control territory across a shared sector map through military conquest, resource management, and technology development. Players build and upgrade unit types drawn directly from the video games, issue orders in a simultaneous action-selection system, and resolve battles using combat cards and unit strength values, with victory determined by accumulating dominance points from controlled sectors and destroyed enemy forces over a fixed number of turns. The game received an expansion, Brood War, adding new units, factions elements, and scenarios, and it was noted for translating the real-time strategy video game's three-faction asymmetry into a turn-based tabletop format.
