SPQR is a tactical board wargame published by GMT Games in 1992 and designed by Richard Berg and Mark Herman, with maps and counters illustrated by Rodger B. MacGowan and Mark Simonitch. It simulates five historical battles fought by the Roman Republic, Beneventum, the Bagradas Plains, Cannae, Zama and Cynoscephalae, tracing the legion's development from the Greek hoplite model into a war machine capable of conquering most of Europe and North Africa, and is played by two opposing players plus an additional fantasy scenario involving Alexander the Great.
