Spirit of the Century

Role-Playing Games

Spirit of the Century is a pulp role-playing game published by Evil Hat Productions and built on Evil Hat's Fate system. It is billed as a pick-up game that can be played quickly with little preparation. The setting is the pulp era of the 1920s, and player characters are Centurions, potent individuals of action born on the first day of the century and endowed with extraordinary skills. Characters carry free-form aspects that shape the story, gained from their background, their part in the Great War and the imaginary novels the players write about each other. Rolls use four Fudge dice plus a skill, and the game marks the first appearance of Fate third edition. It was released under the Open Game License with a freely accessible System Reference Document, and won the 2006 Indie RPG Award for Independent Game of the Year.
