Space Marines (wargame)

Space Marines is a science fiction miniatures wargame created by designer A. Mark Ratner, first published by FanTac Games in 1977 with a second edition issued by Fantasy Games Unlimited in 1980. Both editions featured artwork by David C. Sutherland III, who also illustrated early Dungeons and Dragons material for TSR. The original FanTac edition included optional rules for converting characters and encounters between Space Marines and other contemporary games, specifically Dungeons and Dragons and Metamorphosis Alpha, a crossover feature that was dropped when Fantasy Games Unlimited issued its own revised second edition in 1980. A companion line of miniature figures for the game was produced by Stan Johansen and remained commercially available for collectors and players into the 2010s, well after the game's original publishers had ceased operating.
