Sock wrestling

Dexterity and Physical Skill Games

Sock wrestling is a physical playground and gym class game played by two or more people, in which the object is to remove one or both of an opponent's socks while keeping your own socks on. Players usually begin barefoot except for two socks each, kneeling or sitting on a gym mat or carpeted floor to reduce the risk of injury, and wait for a referee's signal before play starts. Once play begins, each player tries to grab and pull off an opponent's sock while simultaneously protecting their own feet from the same treatment, and the game ends when one sock, or both, has been removed. In a match between two players, the first to strip an opponent's sock wins; when more than two players compete at once, whoever finishes with the most socks removed from opponents, or has the most socks remaining on their own feet, is declared the winner. The game is commonly recommended to primary school teachers and physical education instructors as a safe, low-equipment activity for children roughly eight years old and up.
