Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective is a game of reasoning and deduction published by Sleuth Publications in 1982, based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. One to six players take on the roles of the Baker Street Irregulars and work to solve mysteries by gathering clues from various Victorian London locations, trying to visit as few places as possible. The original release included ten scenarios and came with a London directory, a case book, a quiz book, a map and a reproduction newspaper. The game sold over 500,000 copies, won the Charles S. Roberts Award and the Spiel des Jahres, and was followed by multiple expansions, translations and video game adaptations.
