Runebound is a high fantasy adventure board game created by Martin Wallace and Darrell Hardy and first published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2004, with a second edition following in 2005 and a third edition released in 2015. One to six players take the role of adventurers moving across a shared fantasy map, drawing quest and encounter cards tied to specific locations and resolving them through combat or skill checks that can reward equipment, gold or experience, or cost a player dearly on failure. Progress is measured by a character's growing power and item collection rather than a fixed race to a finish line, so games can be won by building toward a decisive final confrontation as much as by steady accumulation. The design became a foundation for later Fantasy Flight adventure titles that reused its map-and-quest-card structure in other settings.
