Risk is a strategy board game of territorial conquest in which players deploy and move armies across a map divided into forty-two territories on six continents, attacking neighboring territories with dice rolls and attempting to eliminate opponents or capture the whole board. It was invented by French film director Albert Lamorisse and originally published in France as La Conquete du Monde before being released in the United States by Parker Brothers in 1959 under the name Risk. It is widely regarded as one of the formative games of the modern conquest and area-control genre.
