Quazar (board game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Quazar is a 1977 board wargame published by Excalibre Games and designed by R. J. Hlavnicka. Billed as a science fantasy wargame for two or more players, it pits one side playing the human defenders of an entire game-map world against an opposing player commanding the invading X-Con forces, a coalition of aliens, clones and robots. The design casts the conflict at a large strategic scale, with the human side needing to defend broad territory against a numerous and varied invading force. Contemporary reviews of the game were mixed, with several critics singling out its rulebook for lacking clarity even as the underlying invasion scenario and large scope drew interest from science fiction wargamers of the period.
