Quartets is a dedicated deck card game in which the object is to collect four cards in a series, similar to Go Fish and Happy Families. Each pack originally contained 32 cards divided into eight groups of four, unlike a normal 52 card pack of playing cards, although the number of groups changed from company to company. A version of the game was published by the Austrian card game company Piatnik during the 1960s, and it was later released by Dubreq, Ace, Waddingtons and other companies. The game went on to inspire Top Trumps. The English Wikipedia lead supports this account of the deck, the objective and the publishing history; it does not state the rules of play in detail.
