PRESTAGS

PRESTAGS, short for Pre Seventeenth Century Tactical Game System, is a collection of five board wargames published by Simulations Publications Inc in 1975, covering battles from the Bronze Age through the Renaissance. Each of the five games began as an individual title with its own separate rules before SPI collected them into a single box and revised their rules into one shared system, letting the same core mechanics carry across battles separated by thousands of years of military history. Players command historical armies, from Bronze Age and ancient forces through medieval and Renaissance era troops, in tactical scale engagements that emphasize period appropriate unit types and formations rather than one single historical period. The shared rules system was meant to let a player learn PRESTAGS once and then explore very different eras of pre gunpowder warfare without learning a new rulebook for each individual battle.
