Pokémon TCG Online

Pokemon TCG Online was a free-to-play digital collectible card game that simulated the physical Pokemon Trading Card Game for online play. Dire Wolf Digital, a studio based in Denver, Colorado, developed the game and The Pokemon Company International published it, first as a browser title called Pokemon Trainer Challenge on March 24, 2011, before it was renamed and extended to Windows in 2012, macOS later that year, iOS in 2014 and Android in 2016. Built on the Unity engine, the game let players build 60-card decks and battle non-player characters or other online opponents, mirroring the rules of the tabletop card game while adding automated scoring and matchmaking. The Pokemon Company shut the servers down on June 5, 2023, retiring the title in favor of its successor, Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, which let players transfer their existing accounts and card collections into the new application.
