Pirate's Cove

Strategy board game

Pirate's Cove is a board game in which three to five players take on the role of pirate ship captains competing over twelve rounds representing a year of sailing to gather treasure from islands and fame from defeating rival pirates in naval combat. Designed by Paul Randles and Daniel Stahl, it was first published in Germany in 2002 by Amigo Spiele under the title Piratenbucht and republished in North America in 2003 by Days of Wonder with new artwork. Each round players secretly plan destinations and battle strategies before revealing them simultaneously, so anticipating rivals' choices is as important as raw firepower. The player who accumulates the most fame points for plunder, buried treasure and naval victories by the end of the final round wins the game.
