Paydirt (game)

Paydirt is a two-player board game simulating American football, originally published by Time Warner under the name Sports Illustrated Pro Football before being acquired and republished under the Paydirt title by Avalon Hill in 1982. Avalon Hill kept the game in its catalogue until 1995, making it one of the publisher's longer-running sports simulation titles. The game translates the structure of an American football contest, downs, yardage, play-calling and situational strategy, into a board and card system that lets two players run offensive and defensive playbooks against each other, in the sports-simulation tradition Avalon Hill maintained alongside its better known historical wargames.
