Patrol (board game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Patrol is a skirmish level board wargame published in 1974 by Simulations Publications Inc., serving as a sequel to the company's earlier game Sniper!, released the previous year. Subtitled Man to Man Combat in the Twentieth Century, Patrol simulates small scale non-urban combat at the individual soldier level, with each player commanding roughly five to fifteen soldiers. Unlike Sniper!, which focused on urban World War II settings, Patrol features scenarios spanning conflicts from 1914 through 1970. Designer Jim Dunnigan created the game as a companion piece to Sniper!, using hexagonal maps, die-cut counters and a movement point system in which players secretly purchase actions for their units from a ten point budget each turn.
