Objective: Atlanta

Modern Conquest and War Games

Objective: Atlanta, subtitled A Game of the Civil War Campaign for Atlanta, is a two-player board wargame published by Battleline Publications in 1977. It simulates the 1864 Atlanta campaign of the American Civil War, in which Union forces under William Tecumseh Sherman advanced on the Confederate rail and manufacturing center of Atlanta, Georgia, with one player commanding Union forces and the other Confederate defenders. Using roughly 400 counters, the game places heavy emphasis on logistics, supply lines and ammunition rather than simple territorial movement, and its alternating turn structure represents single days that can be played individually as five separate scenarios or combined into a full 109-turn campaign game, with rules covering bridge and entrenchment construction and the Confederate use of slave labor in fortification work.
