Monopoly Junior

Monopoly Junior is a simplified version of the property-trading board game Monopoly, designed for young children and first released in 1990 by Parker Brothers and Waddingtons. Rather than the city streets of the original game, its smaller rectangular board is themed around a set of neighborhood amusements such as an arcade, a zoo, and a skating rink, laid out to hold the attention of children roughly five to eight years old. Two to four players roll a single die and move their tokens clockwise around the board; landing on an unowned space requires the player to buy it outright, since the game removes the original's auction rule for spaces a player declines. Landing on a space owned by another player requires paying that owner rent, and rent doubles once a single player owns both spaces of the same color group. Play continues until one player runs out of money, at which point whichever remaining player holds the most cash is declared the winner. Multiple later editions have re-themed the board around different properties while keeping this same core structure of dice movement, mandatory purchase, and doubled-color rent.
