Metro (board game)

Metro is a tile-laying board game for two to six players designed by Dirk Henn. Henn first published the design in 1997 through the German company db-Spiele under the title Iron Horse, and Queen Games issued the now-familiar Metro edition in 2000. Players take turns placing track tiles to extend a growing underground rail network on a shared board, each holding stations that score points once a completed line finally reaches them, so a placement can help a rival's route as easily as one's own. The game was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres award in 2000, was a finalist for the Gamers' Choice Award in 2001, and won the Mensa Select award that same year, a run of recognition that established it as one of Henn's best-known designs alongside his later work.
