Mayday (game)

Modern Conquest and War Games

Mayday is a space combat board wargame published by Game Designers' Workshop in 1978, designed for use alongside GDW's science fiction role-playing game Traveller. It simulates ship-to-ship combat between small spacecraft of up to eight hundred tons, covering vessel classes such as scouts, couriers, escorts and free traders drawn from the wider Traveller setting. Rather than a standalone product, Mayday functioned as a tactical combat module that let Traveller referees and players resolve starship encounters that the core role-playing rules only handled abstractly, giving small-craft combat its own dedicated counters and movement system consistent with Traveller's established ship designs.
