Love tester machine

A love tester machine, also called a love meter or love teller, is a coin operated amusement device that claims to rate a person's sex appeal, romantic compatibility or feelings toward another person after the machine receives payment. Most versions work by having the subject grip a sensor that measures skin moisture through electrical skin conductance, with the reading translated into a rating; other versions measure skin temperature or simply generate a result at random, since the machines are built purely for entertainment and do not produce a scientifically meaningful result. Love testers were common fixtures of penny arcades in the twentieth century and remain in circulation today in video arcades, amusement parks, bars and restaurants as novelty vending machines. Nintendo manufactured its own handheld love tester device early in the company's history, before it became known for video games.
