Ligny: Incomplete Victory

Ligny: Incomplete Victory is a board wargame published by Simulations Publications Inc in 1976 that simulates the Battle of Ligny, fought during the Waterloo campaign of June 1815. The game was originally released as one of four linked games in the collection Napoleon's Last Battles, but was also made available as a standalone title covering only the Ligny battle. Two players command the French and Prussian forces on a hexagonal map using counters for the infantry, cavalry and artillery formations engaged at Ligny, playing through eight game turns that each represent one hour of the historical battle. The title's own name points to the battle's real outcome, since Napoleon defeated the Prussian army at Ligny but failed to destroy it outright, letting the Prussians reorganize and march to support Wellington two days later at Waterloo.
