Legend of the Burning Sands

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Legend of the Burning Sands, abbreviated LBS, is an out-of-print collectible card game published in July 1998 by Five Rings Publishing Group, then a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast. It was a spin-off from the earlier Legend of the Five Rings and shared its fictional world, but with an Arabian setting in place of an East Asian one and a few characters appearing in both games. Both games had similar mechanics and emphasized a continuing storyline. The first three sets were released under the experimental Rolling Thunder system of small regular releases, which proved unpopular, and after a six month hiatus the conclusion set The Awakening appeared. Sales were poor and cards from that set are now in demand among collectors.
