Kōnane, rarely called mu, is a two-player strategy board game invented and played by the native people of Hawaii. It is played on a rectangular board that begins completely filled with black and white counters laid out in an alternating pattern. Players take turns hopping one of their counters over an adjacent counter of the opponent, which captures it, and every legal move in the game is a capturing move. Because the board starts full, the opening moves create the first empty spaces and the game develops from there as more pieces are removed. The source lead gives no date for the game, so none is recorded here.
