Katro is a mancala-style board game played in Madagascar, described by the Ludii Portal as a unique six-row game. It is played on a board of six rows, with two counters placed in each hole at the start. A player sows from one of the holes in their outermost row that contains counters, in either direction, along a boustrophedon path that runs from the last hole of the innermost row back to the start of the outer row. When the last counter lands in an occupied hole, the contents are picked up and sowing continues. If that hole is in the sowing player inner row, the counters in the opponent hole opposite are captured and sown on as well, and a capture can reach into the opponent central or outer rows when the inner row is empty. Sowing ends when the last counter falls in an empty hole, and play continues until one player has captured all of the counters. The record cites A. de Voogt, 1999, on the distribution of mancala board games.
