Jaipur (card game)

Card game

Jaipur is a two-player card game designed by Sebastien Pauchon and first published in 2009, originally by GameWorks and later by Asmodee. The game casts its two players as rival merchants trading goods in the historic Indian city of Jaipur, competing to win rounds and eventually the favor of the Maharaja by collecting seals of excellence. On a turn a player must either draw goods cards from a shared market or sell a matching set of goods cards from hand for currency tokens, never both in the same turn. Selling larger sets earns bonus tokens, and the value of each good declines as more of it is sold. A special camel herd mechanic lets players stockpile camels separately from their hand limit without counting against it. A round ends when the market runs low on cards or someone accumulates enough goods tokens, and a player wins the match after taking two rounds. A full game typically lasts about thirty minutes and is recommended for players aged twelve and up.
