In Nomine Satanis/Magna Veritas, often abbreviated INS/MV, is a French role-playing game created by Croc. The name covers two sides of one game: In Nomine Satanis, meaning In Satan's Name, was the Demonic player's guide, and Magna Veritas, meaning The Great Truth, was the Angelic player's guide. It was first designed by the French company Siroz, and as of 2003 it was available in its fourth edition. The French edition was stopped in 2006 with the publication of the sourcebook On Ferme !, meaning We close!. The game retells the events of the Bible in a somewhat parodical fashion and explains the existence of other religions and magic with a sense of humor. Its backdrop is the modern world, one in which angels and demons incarnate themselves in human bodies to fight for good or evil. It plays somewhat like a superhero game, with characters who have supernatural powers and abilities far beyond those of a human, and a typical adventure combines inquiry, detective work and roleplay with a few conflicts before a final showdown.
