Illuminati: New World Order

Modern Hobby Strategy Games

Illuminati: New World Order, often shortened to INWO, is an out-of-print collectible card game released in 1994 by Steve Jackson Games. It was based on the company's own earlier boxed game Illuminati, which in turn drew on the 1975 book The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea. Development began in early 1994, after the August 1993 release of Magic: The Gathering, and the Deluxe Edition sold out by mid-1994. The Limited Edition followed in December 1994 and nearly 84,000 sets sold out almost immediately, with an Unlimited Edition in 1995. The base set had 409 cards, sold in packages of two 55-card starter decks and in 15-card booster packs, and its Group and Plot cards appeared in boosters while Illuminati cards did not. Expansions included Assassins in 1995, SubGenius in 1998 and Bavarian Fire Drill. A 144-page player's guide, The INWO Book, was published in April 1995.
